After starting their debut year in the league with a 4-1 victory over O'Connor Knights last week, an undermanned Wanderers pressed hard but were unable to find an equaliser at Woden Park.
The result was a huge improvement on a recent 5-2 FFA Cup loss to the Canberra heavyweights, with gun White Eagles striker Zinelabiddine Eljammoudi scoring both goals.
A Justin Curran penalty strike with ten minutes left gave Wanderers a chance to salvage a draw, but couldn't capitalise on their chances.
Wanderers attacker Henri Gardner said the opening fortnight had given the squad plenty of belief they can compete after struggling in the Sydney competition.
"We were missing a lot of players, but we're still disappointed," Gardner said.

Meanwhile, the Wanderers women were shut out 4-0 by Canberra United Academy at Gissing Oval on Sunday.
The reserves women also went down 6-0 but the under 17s (3-2) and under 15s (3-0) both registered victories.
