Only nine of 22 players from last year's grand final-winning team will feature in Marrar's first game of the season on Saturday, when the Bombers host North Wagga at Temora. The venue won't be the only unfamiliar territory - six players will make their debut for Marrar against last year's grand final rivals.

And a couple of months after concerns arose about their future, there's a buzz in the air and a big crowd expected for the Northern Jets' first home game of the season. The club will unveil man mountain Dave Hand against East Wagga-Kooringal and Len Haddrill will play his first game at Ariah Park in five years.

Down the road, Coleambally's former league medallist Dean Pound will play his first game in close to two years when the Blues host The Rock-Yerong Creek on Saturday.
