This weekend will be the first home game since Hanwood's move to Wagga as they prepare to take on Young Lions on Sunday afternoon and coach Anthony Agresta is keen to make it as hard as possible for the visiting sides.
"We want to make Hanwood Oval into our fortress," he said.
"We don't want to make it easy for the sides who have to come here."
Agresta said he was pleased with the way his side performed but wasn't going to get too carried away.
"I think the boys were just eager to get their first run under their belt," he said.
"We aren't going to read too much into the result and we will still have to come up against some pretty strong sides."
Agresta's side walked away with an 8-0 win over South Wagga last weekend so it was hard for the coach to get a gauge on his side's performance but their was one aspect which pleased him.
"We were two or three nil up early in the first half and it was pleasing to see the boys were able to carry on with it," he said.
"It's hard to point to anything in particular that we did that caught my eye but hopefully we can continue to build as the season progresses.
"We are just going to take it a week at a time at this stage and any points that we pick up along the way will be a bonus."
Their opponents this weekend will be heading into the game wanting to pick up their first points of the season after they fell to a 4-3 loss at the hands of Henwood Park in round one.
Agresta is hopeful that the move to the Wagga competition may create interest for spectators to head to Hanwood Oval on Sunday.
"Really looking forward to the first home game of the season," he said.
"I've heard that the move has created a bit of interest out there so hopefully we can attract a decent sized crowd to watch us come up against some different opposition.
"It is meant to be a good day so hopefully we can get a few through the gate."
Hanwood will have a full complement of troops heading into this weekend's match which was pleasing for Agresta.
"Everyone looks to come through last weekend pretty well," he said.
"We trained well as a unit last night so hopefully all things being well we should be at full strength when Sunday rolls around."
The men won't be the only team in blue in action this weekend with the women's getting their season underway after having the bye in the first round.
Agresta feels the ladies will be in a good position.
"They are looking pretty good at this stage," he said.
"Unfortunately there are a couple of times this year when we don't play at the same ground just with the women's competition having fewer sides but it has started to come together."
The women's side will take on Tolland this weekend who started their season last weekend with a 9-0 win over Leeton United.
The ladies game will get underway at 11am over at Rawlings Park in Wagga while the men's action at Hanwood Oval will kick off at around 3pm.
