Himmelberg was drafted to Greater Western Sydney (GWS) at the end of 2015 and has been quick to make an impact at AFL level with 39 goals from 42 games.
The Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes junior said he was happy to remain a Giant until at least 2023.
"Very excited," Himmelberg said.
"It ended up being a pretty easy decision for me.
"My manager Dave (Trotter) from Hemisphere Sports did a really good job with it, making it as stress-free as possible and letting me focus on playing and the club were really good with that as well.
"I couldn't be happier."
Himmelberg, 22, made his debut in round 17, 2016, and has been quick to establish himself as a rising star of the AFL.
He played at either end of the ground early in his career, before enjoying a breakout finals series in 2017, where he kicked four goals in the Giants' preliminary final loss to Richmond.
Himmelberg went on to play every game last year, ending up with 29 goals for the season.
"Obviously last year was probably my first year playing forward full-time and I learnt a lot of things and I'll continue to work with guys like Jeremy Cameron and Jonny Patton and that," he said.
"They're both really good for my development and Brad Miller, the forward line coach, so if I keep developing we'll be better as a team and I'm looking forward to what we can produce throughout the year."
The Giants started the year with a bang, smashing Essendon by 72 points but then came crashing back to earth at the hands of the reigning premiers, West Coast, last week.
"Obviously last week was a blimp in the radar, we like to call it," he said.
"We'll look to bounce back from that this weekend at home, back at Giants Stadium, which is awesome, so I'm really excited to get back out there on Saturday (against Richmond)."
Himmelberg is part of the club's emerging leaders group and is studying a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design outside of football.
He never contemplated leaving the Giants.
"Coming up through the Giants Academy and the club drafting me and putting their faith in me, I suppose there is an element of wanting to replay that," he said.
"I'm very happy here in Sydney and love the club so like I said, it was an easy decision."
