Lady Mironton will represent Wagga in the $500,000 Country Championships Final (1400m) at Randwick, after running second in the qualifier at Albury last month.
The stable's confidence was dented on Wednesday when Lady Mironton drew barrier 20, but is likely to start from gate 14 after scratchings.
Carroll conceded the barrier did make the task even tougher.
"I would be a bit more excited if we drew two not 20," Carroll said.
"But we can't do much about it. Now I've got to sit down, have a look at the speed maps and work out what we do from there.
"We're going to be posted deep but if we could get some cover, that would be ideal. That's what I'm thinking initially."
Carroll travelled to Sydney on Wednesday in preparation for Saturday, as did Lady Mironton.
Stable apprentice Belinda Wright will arrive later in the week to ride the mare in her final piece of work in preparation for the feature race.
Lady Mironton has not had a start since running second to Bennelong Dancer in the qualifier, but stepped out for an impressive trial win at Albury a fortnight ago.
Carroll could not be happier with the mare.
"She's fantastic and she galloped really well on Tuesday. She's switched on," he said.
"The trial was really good and she did what was needed."
A big group of owners will travel to Sydney to enjoy the festivities that come with the big race.
Carroll wants to enjoy the moment but also cannot help but he driven by his competitive instincts.
"I've said from day one to the owners, let's go and enjoy the moment, have fun and don't have too many expectations," he said.
"That's what owners are in horses for. Everyone has enough stress in life and everyone needs golf in their life, and this is some people's golf.
"If we can come here and finish in the first 10 then I'd be happy, that's what I've said to the owners. But my goal is to win the race."
Simon Miller retains the ride on Lady Mironton, who is a $51 chance with TAB, while the Donna Scott-trained Bennelong Dancer is at $11.
The race is at 1.55pm on Saturday.
