There was also strong support for Dr Joe McGirr to seek full term. 

Wagga's born and bred Craig Glasson was not impressed with having to come back to the polls just six months later. 

"I suppose it's a toss up between Dr Joe and Mackenna Powell, but I'm also in favour with Colin, so it's hard to say," Mr Glasson said. 

"Oh god, where do you want me to start? There's just too many issues in Wagga. 

"Roads for a start but some of the roads they've picked out as the worst are just a quarter of them." 

However, not phased about heading to the polls again was Jeff Lange who thought Joe McGirr was "pretty safe". 

"I think McGirr seems to have a very good hold and is popular within the community in such a short space of time," he said. 

"I think he's pretty safe particularly with a name like Joe. 

"You see, I have a brother-in-law called Joe, so there's a connection." 

Mr Lange has always been in Wagga and the name was not the only connection today. 

"I came to South Wagga Public School about 63 years ago and our grand kids are here today so that's our connection and we just live down the street," he said. 

"Roads around here has been a concern for a lot of people and parking at the hospital. 

"Parking downtown, you can hardly park anywhere on a busy day downtown so I'd like to see a multi-storey car park which I think is on people's minds." 

Zach Bartleman was also keen for Dr Joe to seek full term and said he was "happy" as long as Labor or Greens do not get voted in. 

Wagga Base Hospital nurse Leah Vane was pushing for an increase in nurse to patient ratios to ensure patient safety. 

And, It was no surprise who Labor worker Erin Desmond was voting for. 

"I'm voting for Dan Hayes because I work for Labor and I want to be paid a little bit more," she said. 

"I want to see taxes being addressed and hospitals and schools before Sydney stadiums, because we don't need another football field." 

Behind the cake stall and sausage sizzle was Parents and Citizens team member for South Wagga Public School Justine Goesch. 

"We've got the support from the school's family to help run the barbecue and cake stall," she said. 

"We do this on each election day and we had food donated from families of the school, with lots and lots of cakes and sausages and a few bits and pieces from the school's memorabilia to sell today."

Polling centres will close at 6pm.
