A dual premiership winner with Cats, Crane wasn't part of their success two years ago.
With a move to Tumut and an elbow complaint, the 28-year-old wanted to take some time away from the sport but he's got the chance to make the hours on the road worthwhile.
He's excited to be part of another grand final build up.
"There is nothing better at the end of the season then being there at the end and grand final weekend," Crane said.
Crane played the back half in a disappointing season for the Cats last year, but has enjoyed having a more full-time role this time around.
It's coincided with a return to form with 26 dismissals at 13.88 just enough to pip Jon Nicoll as the competition's leading wicket taker.
He has no regrets about having a break.
"I moved to Tumut, a still live and work here in Tumut, had a bit of a dodgy elbow injury and thought the year off would be good for me," Crane said.
"I played a few games in Tumut, played in Culcairn and had a couple back in Wagga just as a muck around and both teams I played for in Tumut and Wagga both made the grand final but I didn't play enough games to qualify for either comp.
"I missed out on the opportunity there but it was a good little breather and I came back and felt stronger."
