The four-year-old made it five wins from six starts at the track with a dominant 2¼ length victory in the feature sprint.
Mount Horeb ($1.90) lived up to his short quote, sitting up on the speed and then dashing away from his rivals to continue jockey Blaike McDougall's domination of the Southern District riding ranks.
Wagga sprinter Fermanagh Lad ($61.00) boxed on gallantly for second, with Kooringal Star ($13.00) for third.
Kyneton trainer George Osborne declared Mount Horeb a much better horse when he crosses the border.
"Every time he comes to Albury he wins by three," Osborne said.
"He puts his shoulder down and lets down so much better than the other direction."
Osborne said he is now left with little choice but to target the $150,000 Wagga Town Plate (1200m) on May 4.
"It looks like we have to go that way doesn't it," he said.
"We'll look at going to the Prelude first but we've got to have a look at that race now."
Wagga trainer Gary Colvin pulled the right rein with Noble Descent ($3.30) as he continued his good form with victory in the $40,000 Baxter's Concrete Albury Mile (1600m).
Colvin scratched Noble Descent from the Albury Gold Cup on Friday for a start in the Mile instead.
"It was a toss up whether to run in the Albury Cup but I just didn't think he had done enough work for it," Colvin said.
Noble Descent has now won four of his last seven starts this campaign.
Colvin will now set Noble Descent for the Murrumbidgee Cup on April 14, where the winner is an automatic qualifier for the Wagga Gold Cup.
Meantime, Mitch Beer's first carnival as an Albury trainer got off to a great start when Anna Baabella ($18.00) won on debut.
The daughter of So You Think led all the way to take out the Coronet Of Albury Country Maiden Handicap (1400m) for Beer and Nikita Beriman.
Beer said it was a particularly satisfying win.
"My little sister is in this horse. She rides her every day and spoils her. The other day I got home from the races and she was outside giving her a pick," Beer explained.
"Clanbrooke (Racing) got involved as well, they jumped in and supported us.
"It's bloody terrific. I've loved every minute since I've come here and to have my family in this horse, Clanbrooke as well, they're like family and my racing manager, Brent, he's in her as well."
Anna Baabella is a half sister to the unbeaten Scramjet, who is being aimed at the South Australian Derby for Tony McEvoy.
It was a good day for Albury trainers with Kevin Hanley also enjoying success with Casino Star ($4.20), who won the Commercial Club Albury Benchmark 58 Handicap (1600m).
