On Monday 17 people gathered for a meeting to discuss the potential of painting the town's water tower.
It is understood the project could cost around $50,000 with the aim to draw visitors and tourists into the village.
The tower, which is the same as the one in Lockhart, is visible from a big radius along the Olympic Highway.
John Holstein was chairman at the Yerong Creek meeting and explained the concept was in its infancy but there was certainly support to paint a mural on the tower.
He said the project would be similar to the recent painting of the water tower in Lockhart.
The water tower is of the same shape and dimensions as the one in Lockhart but it would be painted with different artwork.
"We are getting a lot of interest ... this was our second meeting," Mr Holstein said.
"Hopefully it (the water tower) would be a draw card to get people to stop at Yerong Creek and come and see and camp in the village," he said.
"You can see the tower from a 5-kilometre radius and from many parts of the highway," he said.
Mr Holstein said the project would require fundraising options and might draw in some grant money too.
He said the call for design concepts had been put out among members of the community.
Some of the early ideas include a sunrise and sunset theme, a timeline illustrating the history of Yerong Creek and a fishbowl.
Meanwhile, the completed water-theme mural on the Lockhart tower has earned a lot of interest.
Social media has displayed a steady stream of pictures and the artwork earned the kudos of many in the local community.
The water tower murals have a similar concept to the popular Silo Art Trail. This involved painting murals on grain silos.
