Both carnivals will be without their respective $50,000 bonus this year due to a reconfiguration from Inglis.
A $50,000 Inglis bonus had been attached to the 2YO Handicap at the Wagga carnival since 2009.
The Albury Guineas had also included a $50,000 bonus for Inglis graduates.
Inglis’ general manager of bloodstock sales Sebastian Hutch explained the funds had been redistributed.
“The value of the Inglis race series for this season has been increased to $8 million and as part of that the allocation of the prizemoney has been reconfigured. The revamped race series includes the $2m Inglis Millennium and the $1m Inglis Sprint," Hutch said.
“We introduced two $50,000 Highway bonuses around our Classic Yearling Sale for country and provincial trainers, as well as opening up the inaugural Highway Session horses to be eligible for the $100,000 Inglis Challenge on Scone Cup day.
"Inglis has always been a huge supporter of country and provincial racing in NSW and we will continue to work closely with our clients based in regional areas.’’
MTC chief executive Scott Sanbrook said it was a blow for the Gold Cup carnival.
"This Inglis bonus associated with the two-year-old race was always a huge attraction and it's disappointing that it's not continuing," Sanbrook said.
"It's been part of the race for a long time and I know that a lot of trainers, whether it be from the major city stables or the locals, always look forward to setting a horse for the race."
