Coming off round one wins, both teams fell short against their highly-fancied rivals at Ron Crowe Oval.
Riverina got off to a perfect start in the under 16s when Ben Rumble pounced on a clever kick from Bobby Jones to open the scoring.
However Western hit back to lead 14-6 at the break.
Riverina reduced the gap when Dylan McCartney scored only for Western to hit back with two quick fire tries.
Riley North-Fraser crossed late but it wasn't enough for the hosts to fall 26-16.
However Western dominated in the under 18s, finding plenty of space on the right edge and Riverina had little answers.
They led 28-0 at half-time before running out 44-10 winners.
Riverina got on the board late through tries to Thomas Fattore and Thomas Jenkins but were outclassed for the majority of the game.
Both sides will be looking to hit back against Monaro on Sunday.
