The team recently rescued at last twenty expiring Murray Cod fish, 80-100 centimetres long with estimated ages of between 10 and 20 years old.
Handled with tender loving care and placed in a salt water rehab tank at Narrandera under constant vigil for a couple of weeks.
It is hoped the fish will eventually be able to be transferred to a more familiar environment in Narrandera to resume a productive life following measuring, tagging and sexing.
Silver perch, listed as a threatened species, and golden perch are also in their sights for rescue.
It is understood Narrandera Fisheries staff are attuned to fish rescues and take these activities in their stride.
Judging by the smile on the face of Narrandera Fisheries Centre manager Martin Asmus, these valuable assets of the aquatic world are in extremely capable hands.
