Both the Kooringal-Wagga and Wagga clubs will be well represented after strong performances from their athletes at the zone championships held late last year.
Regionals is a chance to qualify for state championships but it’s a serious step up, with athletes from across southern NSW competing, including the strong Wollongong and south coast regions.
It’s a once-in-30-year opportunity for Griffith to host the event and the club expects around 780 athletes to attend the two-day carnival.
Wagga hosted the Region Four championships at Jubilee Park two years ago.
The top two finishers in each event automatically qualify for the state track and field championships in Sydney in the middle of March.
