No stranger to the club, after playing there for four seasons at the start of the decade, the front rower joins twin brother Glenn at the club.
The pair both moved back to Yanco Wamoon in 2015, but reunite once more at the Wagga club in 2019.
However having both back was never in the plans.
Troy had signed with Yass before a change of employment.
The new Kangaroos coach was thrilled his brother is heading back to the club as well.
“I didn’t really have to convince him,” Glenn Dumbrell said.
“He got employment in Wagga and it just worked out that he was looking for the club.
“He was there before I was, has got more connections with the place so it will be good.”
It's some positive off-season news that Kangaroos have been searching for.
Former coach Ben Jeffery moved on after two seasons with the club while playmakers Tristan Dickson, Dylan McLachlan and Tyson McLachlan have left since Dumbrell was announced as captain-coach in October.
Despite plenty of losses following a disappointing 2018 season, Dumbrell isn’t too worried.
“We’re not too concerned,” he said.
“Yes we’ve lost but we’ve gained also.
“We’ve got a few key signings to come in the next month or so and have been getting pretty decent numbers at training.
“In key spots we have lost a couple but I’m sure we can cover that and do quite well.”
He’s confident his slightly younger brother will have a big impact with the club.
Troy Dumbrell played around 100 games in his first stint there and that experience is one boost to the side.
“He brings experience, has great mobility and will be quite athletic in our forward pack,” Glenn Dumbrell said.
“He’s definitely put on a fair bit of size since the last time we has at Kangaroos and will probably be one of the older players in our forward pack.
“He also knows the system I’ll bring to the club and will help me with that.
“It will be really good to have him around actually.”
