The Dragons, Storm, Tigers and Sharks are set to duke it out with Wagga’s best players evenly distributed between the four sides by a selection panel.
Speaking ahead of the official season launch and team naming on Thursday night, Walsh shared his excitement for the weeks to come.
“Our very best players will be competing against each other in the mixed touch format (and) we’re thrilled to be able to offer another style of (competition) for our players,” Walsh said.
“With many current state and national representatives on the books, every game should be a cracker.
The new competition has been financially backed in its infancy with the likes of Grill’d and the Duke of Kent Hotel coming on board as principal sponsors.
“We’ve received great community support with new sponsors coming on board,” Walsh said.
The competition comes after one of the most hotly contested summer competitions of premier league touch in Wagga, which saw AKW Jets and Advanced Communications Cobras emerged victorious.
The first round of fixtures is set to kick off next Tuesday at Jubilee Park.
