There will most likely be some ‘rusty’ players as neither team has played for six weeks.
There are, however, some players on both teams who have been at it since the break commenced. From the Warriors, sisters, Montana and Layhnee Kearnes represented NSW in the open nationals and under 19 nationals. Both of the teams were winners.
Turvey Park pitcher, Paris Hall, represented ACT at the under 17 nationals, whilst fringe players Charli Hall, Leila Wadley and Jess Wendt all played for NSW Country at the under 15s nationals.
With some regulars missing from the A grade this week, Turvey Park will no doubt rely on these players of the future to replace them.
Warriors are the complete item. They have the choice of four different, equally outstanding pitchers: Montana Kearnes, Kristy Tenison, Carmel Hutchinson and Jane Kearnes to cater for the opposing sides defence, while there is no respite for the fielding team when the Warriors bats get rolling.
For the Warriors to lose, the opposition team would have to be faultless in both defence and offence, or, as rarely is the case: South Wagga have a ‘bad’ day.
The two sides have met already on three occasions this season with a win, a loss and a draw each. They will meet again in the major semi-final, so it will be interesting to see how the teams approach Saturday’s game.
