The Brown family regularly take their 1964 Pontiac or 1948 Chevy out on organised rod runs, but often find themselves facing long trips just to join up with other car enthusiasts, so they decided Wagga needed an event.
The result is Riverina Rumble, which has been billed as a “retro rewind” themed weekend, to be held at the Wagga Beach Caravan Park on the first weekend in February.
Howard Brown said the weekend was not a show and shine. Although the vehicles will be on display to the public on Saturday afternoon, between 3pm and 7pm, the Riverina Rumble is a chance for car owners to get together.
“One thing we hear at every rod run is that there isn’t enough time for every to catch up. This is that opportunity,” he said.
Mr Brown said more than 250 people were bringing 170 cars, utes and motorbikes.
“Some people are bringing their ‘project cars’ too, on trailers,” he said.
More information is on Riverina Rumble’s Facebook page.
