Fire and Rescue NSW and police were called to the reserve between the rail line and roads near the intersection of Mima Street and Willang Crescent just before 11pm.
Resident Nicole Bourke said a car had been set alight close to where another vehicle had been dumped and burnt a few weeks ago.
“I heard a bang, I didn’t know what it was, like a car door being slammed but a bigger bang,” she said.
“I got my partner and we went outside and he said to me ‘there’s another car on fire’.
“Everyone was gathered around and the car just went up with black smoke everywhere.
“It would have been a threat to houses if the sparks got to the grass across the road.”
Residents described the car as a white Toyota sedan.
Wagga Police were unable to comment on the incident.
Ms Bourke said residents were concerned about the repeated car fire incidents.
“Some of the residents were saying that they don’t feel safe and stuff like that,” she said.
“They said ‘not again’ and it keeps happening.
“Something needs to be done about it, basically.”
