A total fire ban has been issued, although why anyone would want to light a bonfire or think an open flame is wise in this heat is baffling.
Double demerits apply so penalties for drunk or reckless driving will be harsher than usual.
It’s a long weekend and it’s come in the midst of a heatwave.
It’s understandable that people want to let loose but does it have to be at the expense of others or compromise their safety?
Alcohol will be consumed and in this heat it is likely that its effects will be heightened.
It’s not an excuse to break the law, be inconsiderate towards others or exhibit disgraceful behaviour.
After a particularly sad Christmas and New Year period, police will be out in full force this weekend to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and revellers in and around Wagga.
