The first of five regional races, the Ganmain Triathlon has already attracted more than 40 entries and event organiser Kerrilee Logan is expecting even more to turn up on the day.
“We always get plenty of registrations later on but it’s been good so far,” Logan said.
“(40) is pretty much around the normal amount of registrations for this time of the year.
“We’re hoping it’ll flow it quick and fast during the last week.”
The Open Sprint event favours runners with a 1km Run, 20km Cycle, 150m Swim, 5km Run layout and last year’s result mirrored that with hometown hero Caleb Noble and Briony Mazzochi taking out the men’s and women’s divisions.
Noble beat out Wagga’s Dan Judd by more than six minutes, finishing in a blistering 56:01, while Mazzocchi came out on top with a time of 71:25.
Logan said the sport had continued to grow in popularity over the past year.
“I think it’s getting stronger and stronger, for sure,” she said.
The Ganmain Triathlon kicks off the five-leg series with Temora, The Rock, Holbrook and West Wyalong to follow.
