“I have been growing out my hair for a few years,” she said. “It’s important because some people don’t have the hair and they probably don’t want people to point out they don’t have any hair.”
Leea had 39 centimetres of her hair cut off and when they cut the first plait off she was a bit shocked.
“I thought ‘am I going to regret this’, but now I love it,” she said.
Leea hopes to see her sisters follow in her footsteps and grow out their hair to donate to charity as well.
Melissa Yeomans, her mother, said she was incredibly proud of Leea.
“There were a few times when her hair was so knotty I wanted to cut it, but she was determined to finish,” she said.
Leea is collecting donations to give alongside her hair, for those who wish to help contact ljsscents@gmail.com.
