Fermanagh Lad ($3.50) proved too strong for his rivals in the $28,000 Cowra Japan Cup (1200m), less than two weeks after taking out the Moruya Town Plate.
Ridden by Blaike McDougall, Fermanagh Lad worked hard at both ends and then survived a protest to take out the feature race.
Wagga trainer Chris Heywood is considering a start in the $40,000 Bega Showcase Sprint (1200m) at Sapphire Coast on February 3 for the in-form sprinter.
“When he’s right, he runs time and beats good horses and he did that on Sunday,” Heywood said.
“He was ultra impressive. He did work at both ends.”
Heywood also had Class Clown run sixth in the Cowra Cup (1700m).
