Crews attached to Turvey Park Fire Station were called to Hunter Street at 10:20 on Saturday night.
The external structure of the home remains intact but city police have confirmed the inside the house has become a shell.
It took crews over an hour to secure the property, but a spokesperson for the station said little of the contents will be salvageable.
Witnesses speak of windows blowing out under the strength of the fire. Despite the destruction, the roof did not collapse.
No-one was injured as it is understood the residents were not home at the time, and the fire was contained to the one structure.
Police are now investigating whether the blaze may have been deliberately lit.
Fire crews also attended yet another car fire over the weekend.
The fire is believed have begun before 3:45 on Saturday morning.
It took half-an-hour to suffocate the blaze after a car was set alight on McNickle Road, Moorong.
With strong winds and high temperatures, the station’s spokesperson confirmed the need for crews to work quickly lest the fire spread to nearby dry bushlands.
