Two locals from The Rock had a unique idea to take refuge from the heat by going for a dip in the living room with the help of a blow up pool.
They weren’t the only ones taking the weather into their own hands, with many locals spending the day down at Wagga beach or enjoying some ice cream.
Businesses in the area have water mist fans circulating outdoor areas as well in an effort to keep customers cool.
Whether it be as adventurous as dragging a pool inside or as simple as staying in an air-conditioned room, locals are doing all they can to make it through the streak of hot weather.
Technical officer at the Bureau of Meteorology Bruce Copplestone says Wagga’s temperatures have well and truly surpassed the month’s average.
“The temperature max today is 10 degrees above the long-term average for January, and we haven’t quite reached it yet today,” he said.
“At this time of year we tend to see maximum temperatures reached later in the day.”
Sitting at 41.8 degrees by 2.30pm, Mr Copplestone told locals they can look forward to slightly cooler temperatures for the week ahead.
“It’s looking to be an average max of 30 degrees in the coming few days, maybe even with some showers but we do have a cold front approaching,” he said.
With two months of summer still yet to go, Wagga can expect more blistering days and interesting ways of escaping the warm weather.
