The club received a $20,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Back to the Track program that will be used towards a bumper opening meet at the new Cartwrights Hill facility on March 10.
“The grant will make a major difference and will be put partly towards promotions, advertising, giveaways and bus transport,” WHRC chief executive Graeme White said.
“Wagga is delighted to receive the maximum grant of $20,000 and this will greatly assist promoting the opening meeting at the new complex to a wider audience.”
Wagga-based Nationals MLC Wes Fang was delighted to announce the successful grant.
“In organising the inaugural race meet, the club will engage with local charities, community groups and sporting clubs to create stronger links with harness racing at a grass roots level,” Fang said.
“Clubs, like Wagga Harness Racing, give so much back to the community and I am proud that as part of the NSW Government, the Nationals are continuing to invest in our regional racing organisations.
“We want country racing to thrive and attract people who may have never been before to help ensure a sustainable future for our clubs.”
The club will hold their final meeting at Wagga Showground on Saturday night.
