Team leader Jon Nicoll said while peacocks were not the perfect pet for everybody, they had a unique charm.
“They’re quite personable, they’ll come up to you, and they’re quite friendly,” Mr Nicoll said.
“But they’re an acquired pet, too – they can be quite noisy, so if you want a quiet pet they’re probably not a good option.”
Mr Nicoll said his team is looking to rehome four male aged between one and two years old to help manage their numbers at the zoo.
“You’re obviously going to want a lot of room for them to move around, so they’re very well suited to people on a property,” he said.
“Hopefully, we can identify some great homes for them to relocate to.”
He said the zoo had already had plenty of interest from residents keen to add a unique pet to the family.
