Unbeaten in six outings, Sporties Dolphins were put to the sword by Octopuses to the tune of 9-7 in the “match of the season”.
“That was a really good game actually, probably the best game we’ve had all year,” Wagga Water Polo president Josh Paul said.
Rex Gallaher and Shaun Bennett were the best on the night as Octopuses staked their premiership credentials.
Meanwhile, Raiders and IPS Dolphins remain in a tussle for third after smashing out a 5-all stalemate in their fixture.

IPS Dolphins took the early lead with Ollie Cooper, Thomas Whiting and Tim Murphy find the back of the net during the first quarter.
However, Raiders gun Doug de Jong was never far away from the action and kept his team afloat with a quickfire brace to trim the margin to 3-2 at quarter time.
Jamie Owens then stretched IPS Dolphins’ lead with his first goal of the evening, putting them ahead by two before de Jong bagged his third ahead of the main break.
Nathan Owens’ score midway through the third term looked like a sealer in what was up until that point a low scoring game but de Jong had other ideas.
The veteran saved his best for the last, slamming in two more goals to finish with five for the game and levels the scores.
