Both teams will enter the contest brimful of confidence after their fine respective efforts against competition measuring stick, South Wagga Warriors. Two rounds ago, Turvey Park was impressive in holding the premiers to a 4-all draw, while the Saints gave a season best offensive performance in going down to the Warriors 10-9 last Saturday.
Desi Calder, Rochelle Harley and Tessa McGlynn, who led the way in the batting department last round will look to continue their form on Saturday.
Gemma McGlynn, Kadison Hofert and Paula Potts are also handy with the bat, and if they can produce as they did last round, Turvey will have to be switched on in the field.
With Jade Olsen and Julie-Ann Hallam both unavailable, there lies an opportunity for Turvey Park to ‘blood’ more of their promising young players.
Their absence will also throw more onus on the remaining senior players to lead the way by example.
Amanda Gooden, Belinda Dennis and Jane Wadley will be heavily relied on to show the way, while the experienced younger players, Charli McNaughton, Sarah Carter and Georgina Carter have to chime in with safe hits if Turvey is to beat the Saints as they have in their two previous meetings.
With an 8-7 win to Turvey in round two and a 5-2 victory for them in round five, there’s not much between the two sides, so much will depend on how well the youngsters perform in the top grade.
