In her seven years on the board, Ms Galloway helped the Committee 4 Wagga deliver countless community projects for the city.
Under her leadership, some of their biggest achievements have included Lights 4 the Lake, introducing CCTV into the CBD, the Share the Road initiative, and introducing the Wagga Live New Year’s Eve party.
Reflecting on her years in the role, Ms Galloway said one of the most enjoyable parts has been working with people who are genuinely passionate about making the city a better place to live.
“It’s about saying ‘Well, if we can improve or make a difference to what happens in the community, then every one of us benefits’,” Ms Galloway said.
“Working with local businesses has also been really terrific, and I feel as though we’ve helped businesses have more of a voice in the community.”
Looking back on all the projects the committee has been a part of, Ms Galloway said introducing CCTV into the CBD was one that stood out to her.
“As a community member, your safety is important, and giving the whole community a better sense of safety is, too,” she said.
"That project was a collaboration between state, federal, and local government as well as local business and local people – I remember we even had a group of school kids who came along and gave us $20 to put towards it.
”I think that’s the essence of what Committee 4 Wagga does – we have to look forward and be forward thinking to put the planning in place for these types of projects, otherwise it would be to the detriment of the city.”
Committee 4 Wagga CEO Alan Johnston said other projects that had come to fruition under Ms Galloway’s leadership included the levee bank upgrade, the RiFL Hub, the Riverside Precinct redevelopment, the UNSW Medical School, and improving the city’s cycleways.
“The board and members would like to sincerely thank Judy for her considerable contribution to the effectiveness of the Committee 4 Wagga in driving positive change,” Mr Johnston said.
“Judy’s passion for championing positive change for Wagga has seen the advocacy for Committee 4 Wagga’s strategic plan projects capture the attention and commitment from all levels of government.”
