Wagga RSL are looking to bounce back from a horror batting display in a crucial clash with St Michaels.
The Bulldogs were bowled out for 117 in their two-day clash with Kooringal Colts last round, and need to respond against the only them they’ve beat so far this season.
The match at Wagga Cricket Ground shapes as a big one for both team’s fortunes.
Batsman Todd Henderson is looking to pick up some valuable points as the Christmas break approaches.
“It would be nice to finish with a win or two before Christmas and if we want to be involved in the tail end of the year we need to string some wins together before Christmas and then first thing after as well,” Henderson said.
Batting is clearly the area that needs improving.
“It was certainly not what we hoped for and not what we trained for,” Henderson said.
“We just lost wickets too consistently throughout the day.
“We batted 60 overs, which I suppose is a positive we can take out of it, but certainly not enough runs in those 60.”
Wagga RSL have a double chance to pick up some much needed points this weekend, taking on South Wagga in the Friday night Twenty20.
Captain James Richards returns to the side after missing last week due to an overseas holiday.
St Michaels are also looking to bring up their second win of the season.
They’re currently one point ahead of Wagga RSL but six adrift of Kooringal Colts.
