Plush Hairdressing’s Kathleen Lindsay and Sarah Moss, brush lettering teacher Kate Bower – aka Mrs Flanalette – and Dezley.co’s Dezley Hughes are all women “trying to survive in a business world.”
“Being able to put all our heads together and create an exciting experience is amazing,” Ms Lindsay said.
“Our relationship with Dezley is as old as the business itself and when she and her husband Michael owned Scooter Flowers they played a big part in creating our original space at Plush Hairdressing.
“I recently attended a lettering workshop with Kate which is where our connection was made. Lettering is such a beautiful craft and I was surprised at how much I was able to achieve during the session.”
Ms Hughes said she is based in Melbourne, but growing up in Wagga it felt like there was a tendency to miss out on something because you are regional.
"It doesn’t take much convincing for me to get onboard for a workshop,” she said.
“It’s a good idea to learn a new skill because I think women get stuck where they’re not given the opportunity to learn one.
“There’s lots of laughs and very little competition and they can take away something new.”
Ms Bower said learning a new creative skill can really “make you shine”.
“It’s not about being perfect and not about the Instagram result,” she said.
“In terms of coming on board, a big factor for me was how Plush is fancy.
“I was pretty taken by the whole place and I could visualize the workshop on the balcony and we don't have these really indulge and a little bit extravagant experiences that often.”
Ms Moss said this was the perfect opportunity to have a get-together and relax with “the gals”.
“It’s also amazing to experience something hands-on,” she said.
Ms Lindsay said this Sunday’s workshop “will make anyone’s Christmas dreams come true”.
Amy Dewhirst Larbarga will also make sure their are plenty of tasty treats, think Charcuterie and Champagne, to make it even better.
