Sarah’s parents started the scholarship fund in her honour after her tragic death in 2017, and presented their very first scholarship in July.
Fund director Daniel Lloyd said charity status should help them deliver even more scholarships to female apprentices in male dominated trades.
“Now, if someone’s willing to help us out with a donation so we can spread the scholarship further, they can claim it on their tax,” Mr Lloyd said.
“We would eventually like to spread it out and get it to go Australia-wide and help out as many young girls as we can.”
The fund has also been selected as a benefactor for next year’s Wagga Takes Two.
