The group will tackle Cancer Council’s The Longest Day, an event that challenges golfers to complete four rounds in one day.
Nic Casey, Mitch Daniher and Matt Bradley have organised a group of 12 to take on the challenge at Wagga Country Club on December 17.
Already the group have raised more than $10,000 for Cancer Council. Casey said it was a no-brainer.
“It’s a simple one. Everyone has been touched by cancer,” Casey said.
“When we saw it, there was aspect of the challenge as well as it being for a great cause so it was an easy decision to make.
“It’s grown legs from there.”
Split into three groups, the golfers will tee off at 6.15am to try and complete four stableford rounds before dark.
Joining the trio in the challenge will be Bart Carroll, Henry Brind, Glen Seymour, Chris Adams, Adam Morrison, John Hoey, Glenn Maslin and Brendan Keogh.
Casey hopes the fundraising total can hit $15,000 before the big day.
“When we started the target was to raise $1000 and all of a sudden it’s over $10,000,” he said.
“I want to get to $20,000 but we’re not going to get there. If we could get to $15,000 it would be a great result.”
Cancer Council community relations coordinator Emma McAuley said the money raised will support Cancer Council’s life-saving cancer research, prevention programs, support services and advocacy campaigns, such as Wagga’s Transport to Treatment service and accommodation facility Liler Lodge.
