Over 50 staff participated in Movember as the men grew mos and the women ran a total of 1380 kilometres, which saw a combined effort of more than $5000 in funds raised.
The college’s deputy principal Daryl Lawrence raised the second highest amount of money for the cause at $680, but said the mo will be coming off first thing this morning.
“It wasn’t the first time for me, I’ve been pretty consistent for the past five years in the Movember spirit, but it’s really great that we’ve had 50 staff this year jump on board either growing mo’s or running over 60 kilometres,” Mr Lawrence said.
“First thing Saturday morning it’s gone, I won’t be keeping it, but it’s a great cause for the huge issues facing men’s health and to be able to come together as a school community is really great.
“We have a great school culture at the college and we really support initiatives like this and with everyone getting behind it, it’s just another example of how it’s worked well in raising funds and awareness.”
Mr Lawrence said the Movember Foundation is an “amazing” way to raise awareness.
“It’s a bit of fun growing a mo but one that gives you a solid purpose,” he said.
“If you can do a little bit to help someone it is really powerful, because our suicide rates, prostate cancer and mental health issues among men are phenomenal.
“So growing a mo or committing to the 60 kilometres really gives us as a college the opportunity to do something good for others.”
