The Octopuses teenager was a standout in Sydney, helping Riverina to finish third after the round robins and progress to the semi finals.
Gallaher believes their recent fourth placing – Riverina’s best result in years – was a good effort but could’ve been even better.
“Fourth was great but we probably could’ve come second, to be honest,” Gallaher said.
I don’t think we had quite enough depth but overall it was a good performance.
Gallaher began his representative tenure as a seventh grader and has consistently been among the region’s best in the water.
Though he’s now too old to be selected in the state side, Gallaher’s commitment to the region and talent was recognised with the “best allrounder” award.
Riverina was also branded “most improved” at the state titles and Gallaher is hopeful their success will continue.
“It’s good to see quite a few younger players in the side,” he said.
“It’s the same situation I was in – being in year seven – I think it’ll be tough for them without us senior players, but it’ll be a good experience.”
