Senior NSW Liberals are distancing themselves from their colleagues south of the border after the coalition's landslide election defeat in Victoria.

Transport Minister Andrew Constance was quick to describe the NSW government as "progressive" on Monday when asked to asses the Victorian result.
"We aren't them - we are not them," Mr Constance told reporters in Sydney on Monday.
His comments came after NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Sunday distanced the NSW Liberals from the federal party after many commentators argued the dumping of Malcolm Turnbull as prime minister contributed to Saturday's heavy loss.
"We are not the Commonwealth, we are not Victoria, we're very different, we are doing things differently, we are a progressive, accountable mojo state," Mr Constance said.
Ms Berejiklian on Sunday conceded the months leading up to the NSW election in March will be "incredibly tough".
"I'm used to being the underdog, that's me. I'm used to that. What I'm also used to is staying focused," the premier said, adding she didn't want to get distracted or "have outside influences impact what's happening in NSW".
