About 7.50am, emergency services were called to Dobney Avenue, near Bunnings, after reports about a male falling from his bike into the drain.
Simon Parr, acting duty operations manager at Wagga Ambulance, said the 17-year-old had “gone through the barrier and fallen into the base of the drain”.
“Fortunately, there’s only minor injuries,” Mr Parr said.
“The patient was able to stand and walk where he was extracted using a ladder.”
The teenager sustained bleeding to his elbow.
“There was a bit of blood, but he’s being transported to Wagga Base Hospital for further review and management,” Mr Parr said at the scene.
“It wasn’t too serious.”
Two ambulance crews attended, as well as Wagga Police who controlled the peak-hour traffic.
Emergency services left just before 9am.
