The Jets found themselves under the pump at times against a brave Tuckies outfit but pulled themselves through in muggy conditions at Jubilee Park.
Star playmaker Vienna Randal pulled the strings in a strong solo performance, scoring a diving try inside the opening minute before adding two more to her personal tally, while Phoebe Duncombe was threatening in attack.
Meanwhile, Young Guns continued their impressive run of form after a Taylah Frazier hat-trick inspired the women’s title favourites to a 9-5 win over Farmers Home Hotel on Tuesday.
Frazier proved the difference between the two sides, running accurate support lines and scoring two late tries to round out her treble and see the Young Guns stretch their winning streak to seven games.
Lucy Anderson bagged a double in another eye-catching effort for Mark Wade’s side while Breanna Frazier also scored twice, complimenting further tries to Lucy Anderson, Ella McFarlane and Gabby O’Connell.
Ash Reynoldson was a standout for Farmers in the four-try loss.
In the men’s premier grade competition, it was Rock Solid Gear Wizards who stole the limelight with a thrilling 14-10 win over premiership contenders Quolls.
Wizards led 6-5 at the break before kicking away with a monstrous eight-try second stanza.
Daniel Steele and Alex McKenzie both scored hat-tricks while Kassidy Argus bagged two tries in a solid performance.
There was just as much try-scoring action in the men’s grand final replay between first-placed The Casuals and defending premiers MJR Electrics, however, it was the former who came out on top for their fifth win of the season.
Daniel Foley was the mastermind for The Casuals in their 12-6 win, attracting plenty of attention in the middle of the park before freeing up space out wide.
A trio of right-to-left cut out passes paid dividends with three early tries in the top left corner while Nathan Rose made an impact for Electrics, freeing up space for Jesse Margosis to find the green machine’s opening try.
But it didn’t take long for the men in red to kick on in earnest with quick-stepping Foley directing one-way traffic.
Fast-forward 20 minutes and The Casuals suddenly held a commanding 10-1 lead – one that never looked like crumbling.
Brocke Argus led a late Electrics rearguard but it wasn’t enough.
