To prove that it is Bland in name only, the inaugural town flavour festival took off at the weekend.

Hundreds of food loving attendees decked in their most colourful attire brought the flavour to The Royal Hotel on Saturday.
Provided by council general manager Ray Smith, the first fair was a big hit.
“Being so far from the major food capitals of this country means we miss out on a lot of flavour,” Mr Smith said.
“We thought we’d play on the name Bland and bring some flavours.
“It’s a difficult name to promote.
“While it’s steeped in history, we just want a bit of fun and, of course, this is trying to attract more tourists to our town.”
Following the success of the first event, the town is hopeful to turn it into a regular calendar event, with the potential to turn the otherwise overlooked township into a foodie tourist destination.
