With this year’s shortened season set to wrap up before Christmas, tournament director Dave Baggio is eager to inject a mixed element ahead of the upcoming January 2019 competition.
“We got together and had a meeting about it last week and it’s something we’re looking forwards to,” Baggio said.
“We’ll have a similar structure with the mixed sides and have a premier grade competition where these new teams are sponsored.
“Obviously there’ll be some prizemoney involved as well.”
The proposed competition would see as many as six mixed opens teams compete in the premier division.
“That’s the target at the moment anyway, having between four to six teams, and we’re probably going to organise the teams ourselves and invite players to come down and compete,” Baggio said.
“We can do a night where we sort out the make up of teams and then we’ll go from there with getting the competition together.”
An official Wagga Touch Association schedule is yet to be drawn up for the 2019 summer season with proposed mixed premier grade team sponsors and names still unknown.
