About 7pm on Sunday, police were called to an address on Inglewood Road, Lake Albert.
The residents, who were home at the time of the incident, alerted police to the situation.
It is understood the accused had left the property by the time police arrived, but was apprehended nearby.
“He was spoken to and subsequently charged with break and enter,” said Chief Inspector Andrew Spliet.
He may have gained entry to the property via an unlocked roller door.
“We’re seeing a phase where people are leaving premises and vehicles unlocked, which is making those opportunities,” said Chief Inspector Spliet.
“We’re really asking that people make sure their homes and cars are locked and secure. If you’ve got a vehicle parked on the roadside, make sure valuables are not in it and are not in clear sight.”
Meanwhile, on Sunday afternoon police apprehended a 19-year-old man for allegedly trespassing on the roofs of local businesses.
“He was spoken to and arrested and brought back the Wagga Police Station where he was charged with trespassing as well as breach of bail,” said Chief Inspector Spliet.
He will also front Wagga Local Court today.
Chief Inspector Spliet thanked the community for the good behaviour at Rock at the Races on Saturday.
“There were a few instances where people were asked to leave by the venue security, but generally people were very well behaved,” he said.
No arrests were made during the weekend event, but several infringement notices were issued for inappropriate conduct.
“When you’ve got such a large event it’s critical to have extra police in town, so were did come out in force to patrol licensed premises and we also had police out at the Rock at the Races,” Chief Inspector Spliet said.
“Security co-operated well with police, they were very easy to work with and they made our jobs a lot easier as police.”
