Morgan was a keen spectator during the Wanderers’ first representative trials last weekend and was pleased to report a quality showing in the men’s field.
Now, he’s hoping to unearth some prospective back line talent to shore up the senior side.
“Throughout the club’s history, I think we’ve probably lacked genuine centre backs and that’s something we’re looking to change,” Morgan said.
“We’ve had plenty of good players in the role but they’re usually just filling in and it’s not their usual position, so finding an out and out centre back is key going into next season.
“We’ve got a really solid goalkeeper in (incumbent Wanderers captain) Rob Fry and I think he just needs a bit of extra help back there.”

Morgan raised the possibility of elevating some of the standout under 20s representatives to the senior side next year but hasn’t ruled out searching abroad for one or two new international talents.
“We had good numbers throughout the three grades at the first trials and there’s plenty of new faces in the under 18s which was good to see.”
“A few of those under 18s and under 20s guys will be pushing to move up a team as well.
“It’s a bit early to be putting together a first grade side though so we’ll get through the next trials and then we’ll see what comes up.
“We might have something from overseas but nothing’s confirmed yet.”
The second open trial for men’s Wanderers selection will run on Saturday November 2 at Gissing Oval.
