Instead of the traditional board including president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, the Wagga club has a new board with four vice presidents for the 2019 season.

Former president Craig Stewart believes the new approach will help share the workload more evenly.

“I stepped down from the presidency at the agm but am on a new four-person board,” Stewart said.

“We’ve got four vice presidents so hopefully it won’t mean as much burden goes on one or two people.

“It is similar to what Southcity had this year.”

Stewart, Bob Hay, Brayden Sharrock, who were both vice presidents last season, and Megan Carey are the four members.

The addition of Carey is something Stewart believes will benefit the club.

“It is good to have to a different perspective, a woman’s perspective,” he said.

“I’m sure she will do a good job.”

Brothers are yet to work out exactly which duties the quartet would be responsible for.

Stewart was waiting until after the Group Nine annual general meeting next week before deciding.

The format of the season and make up of the competition are expected to be two hotly debated subjects at the meeting.

Brothers are firmly in favour of playing 18 rounds.

“We were last year and nothing has changed,” Stewart said.

Now that the new management structure is in place, Stewart said their attention could then turn to playing ranks for 2019.

Peter Little has come in as captain-coach, but too many new faces aren’t expected at the club.

Instead Stewart said the focus would be on re-signing the current playing ranks and fostering talent already within the club.

Meanwhile Young will be the first club to return to training.

New coach Roy Jewitt is keen to get into it.

“We’re just going to train once a week on a Monday to get things ticking along and get the club back into the groove of things,” Jewitt said.

“It will be a bit of a start and it will get everyone on the same page and let everyone know what we are doing.

“We’re going to go a bit of boxing, a bit of wrestling and some circuit training at our local PCYC. It’s all indoors so I won’t be outdoors flogging them.”
