Mr Taggart told The Daily Advertiser that he believed the messages violated the National Party’s code of conduct sections related to “threats” and behaviour that “offends, humiliates or intimidates”.
In response, Mr Fang claimed Mr Taggart was “obsessed” with him and had engaged in harassing behaviour on social media.
The complaint relates to messages sent by Mr Fang last month to NSW upper house Liberal MP Matthew Mason-Cox at a time of heightened tension in the Coalition over the Wagga state byelection.
Mr Fang texted to Mr Mason Cox "If I hear you are spreading false rumours about me again, I will f---ing well come after you."
He also called him a "c---" and a "pr—k"
The National Party confirmed it had received the complaint but would not comment further.
Mr Taggart said Mr Fang’s behaviour had made him unfit to stand in parliament and criticised the Nationals leadership for not instructing him to apologise.
"I think that what Wes said was unacceptable in any community discussion but it’s unacceptable for somebody who is seeking re-election,” Mr Taggart said.
Mr Taggart said Mr Fang had not sent him any direct messages of a threatening or obscene nature.
Mr Taggart told The Daily Advertiser that he was not a Liberal spokesman and his comments were not made on behalf of the party.
Labor-aligned social media groups from capitalising on the feud by sharing screenshots of Mr Taggart’s comments along with humourous images based on Mr Fang’s text messages.
Mr Fang said Mr Taggart had “been unsuccessfully pursuing this issue for a number of weeks”.
“This level of obsession is unhealthy and I have genuine concerns for his welfare,” Mr Fang said.
“He is obviously dealing with issues after the (Wagga) byelection loss.”
Mr Fang said the Coalition was “strong” and both parties were working together.
