Thursday – the first day of November – is predicted to reach a top of 38 degrees Celsius, which is just over 100 degrees on the old Farenheit scale.
Tuesday’s predicted top is 32 degrees, with 35 likely on Wednesday.
The record for the hottest November day is a sweaty 42.8 degrees, recorded on November 26, 1997.
If that maximum arrived just a day early – on the last day of October – it would smashed the record for October’s maximum, which currently stands at 36.3 degrees,. That peak was recorded on October 13, 2006.
Wagga’s heat may not set records this week, but is still well up on average.
October’s long-term average maximum temperature is 21.6 degrees, while November’s is not much higher at 25.9.
Nigel Smedley from the Bureau of Meteorology said there was a 50 per cent chance of a little rain on Friday, but the mercury is still likely to reach 37 degrees.
Wagga is not likely to see much of a reprieve until Saturday, when it is likely to be a milder top of 30 degrees.
If you’re looking to beat the heat, the good news is that the Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre has switched over to its summer hours and has reopened the outdoor pool.
It’s now open from 6am to 9pm on Monday to Thursday and 6am to 8pm on Friday.
On the weekends, you can get in some laps or just splash about between 8.30am and 6pm.
Oasis programs supervisor Fiona Claridge said the temperature for the outdoor pool is currently about 24 degrees and rises to an average of 26 degrees through summer.
“The opening of the outdoor pool means we’re gearing up for some busy times at the Oasis,” Ms Claridge said.
