Officers from the Riverina Police District were called to Cherrywood Service Station after 6.15am, following reports the attendant had been threatened.
Chief inspector Andrew Spliet said officers two men had entered the car repair shop, shortly after opening.
They then allegedly threatened the male shopkeeper, demanding a quantity of cash.
Inspector Spliet said the pair reportedly then fled the premises with an amount of money, which was unknown at the time of publication.
While forensic investigators rushed to gather any evidence left behind, the inspector said local detectives would continue their enquiries.
“We’re calling on any members of the public who might have information in relation to the matter to contact police,” Inspector Spliet said. “They can call us at the station or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
