Long-time club man Callaghan was front and centre during a tough year for the Boiled Lollies, coaching the first grade side during their 14-game losing run, and won’t reprise his role in 2019.
However, the outgoing coach was quick to back his former club and predicted plenty of improvement.
“There’s a lot going on right now and unfortunately I don’t have the time to put into the club … but I’ll still be involved,” Callaghan said.
“We’ve opened up coaching applications for all three grades and the women’s team and we’ve already had a few applications.
“There’s also been talk of a few former players coming back and we’re really trying to build a culture where we’re a club 12 months of the year, so there’s plenty of mixed touch teams getting together and making sure there’s still interest in the club.
“I think we’ll get better, definitely.”
Callaghan conceded the club would need to look at bringing new players into the fold but was confident the results would come.
“What we really needed was some size last season so I think that’s something to look at,” he said.
“But things are looking good for next year.”
