An estimated 10,000 people enjoyed food from 31 different countries at the annual event.
Lisa Saffrey, Wagga City Council’s social planning co-ordinator, described the 2018 multicultural street festival as “fantastic”.
“I thought it went very smoothly,” she said.
“It was packed despite the weather. We had some hairy wind there for a while and it was quite cold for an October weekend. But people came out and celebrated.”
Ms Saffery said both Morrow and Baylis streets, which adjoin the civic precinct, were “jam packed”.
“The numbers were about the same as last year,” she said.
“I don’t think there was any major growth, but we didn’t see any major decline either and considering the weather, I think that was really good.”
Ms Saffrey said the number of food stalls was almost double that of the 2017 event.
With visitors being asked to give their feedback on the event via council’s Facebook page, Ms Saffery said she would also speak to retailers to get their thoughts on the event.
“I think the most important thing in running any festival or event is that you are constantly look as to how to make it better,” she said.
Despite the numbers, Ms Saffery said the crowds were well-behaved and even cut back on plastic waste.
“I think it showcases not only cutural diversity, but that we are a dynamic and community-hearted city,” she said.
Ms Saffery said Fusion will be back in 2019.
“I think it is one of the city’s favourite events,” she said.
