The Warriors were first to put runs on the board when Kristy Tenison and Montana Kearnes both crossed the plate. Tenison led off with a safe left-field and eventually scored midst an uncharacteristic series of walks from Tessa McGlynn.
Kearnes scored on a Kimberley Dennis sacrifice fly.
Despite a Desi Calder right field hit, the Saints were shut out in the responsive innings.
Indeed both teams were shut out in their second innings and the Warriors were “three up-three down” in the top of the third.
Meanwhile the Saints tied the game up when Calder and Gemma McGlynn both scored taking the score to 2-all after four innings each.
Neither team added to their tally in both the fifth and sixth innings and there looked to be every chance of a drawn match.
The highlight of these two innings was the “screamer” of a catch taken by Warriors second-bagger, Jess Swaysland
The top of the seventh saw the Warriors start positively with a well executed bunt by Swaysland. She was advanced to second by a leftfield single from Montana Kearnes and both ran home thanks to a Jane Kearnes’ two-bagger. Further safe hits to Carmel Hutchinson and Sam O’Neill saw Kearnes score as well.
Needing three runs to avoid defeat the Saints were quickly dismissed with Montana Keanes featuring in all three outs with two K-2s and a regulation 1 to 3.
The Warriors will have their bye next week, while the Saints will play Turvey Park.
