Mr Bayles grew up on a dairy farm in Tasmania and has lived in the Riverina for the past thirty years, with the last eight in Wagga.
“We have got farmers in drought, we have got extreme weather conditions, and the government is not doing anything about it,” Mr Bayles said.
“They are throwing a few dollars at it but they are not addressing the underlying causes, which is climate change.”
Mr Bayles is a member of the Quakers Christian movement, which he said had many core beliefs in common with the Greens, including opposition to war.
The federal election is expected to occur by May.
